Spencer Gomes is Associate Counsel at HOF Capital, where he is responsible for the firm's investment and fund transactional activity, including venture and growth investments, portfolio company and investor matters, and strategic transactions.
Prior to joining HOF Capital, Spencer practiced in the Global Finance group of Davis Polk & Wardwell's New York office, representing financial sponsors, corporate borrowers, and institutional investors in leveraged buyouts, acquisition financings, and other finance and private credit transactions. He began his legal career at Sullivan & Cromwell, where his practice spanned U.S. and cross-border finance, M&A, and digital-asset matters.
Spencer holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with honors from King's College London, and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he taught practical law to public high school students in the District of Columbia through the Street Law Program. He is fluent in English and Portuguese, with professional proficiency in Spanish. Before law school, Spencer spent three years in the London Wasps rugby academy.
